The lock uses the reliable combination mechanism found in other ABUS locks. These tended to be significantly more reliable and sturdy than other manufacturers. If this reliability is important then perhapos the additional cost of an ABUS lock is worth it.
The code is resettable to you own combination and this model has the indicator on the shackle which shows you when it has been opened by a TSA inspector in the airport.
