A small combination padlock is an ideal way to secure your suitcase whilst traveling. Many suitcases have the addition of small loops at the base of the zip tabs, specifically designed so you can add a padlock to secure your case. If your suitcase doesn’t have these loops then you may still be able to fit the padlock shackle through the holes in the zip tabs.
We all know luggage should not be left unattended but we do hear from customers who are concerned about cases stored in the luggage hold on coaches and trains. Customers have told us of unlocked suitcases being targeted by thieves who move and search a case before placing them back in the racks. A small padlock is not a high-security measure but can help reduce opportunistic thieves or prevent a zip splitting open.
The use of a combination padlock saves having to carry a key which can end up getting lost. Combination padlocks such as the Shield 155/30b will fit through most suitcase fittings on the larger cases and provides nice affordable security. Nothing But Padlocks produces these in conjunction with Shield for the locker market but they are equally suitable to place on your case. They come with a lightweight body but the reliability of Shield mechanisms and should not be confused with the cheap imports that can often be seen on the market. This padlock is also available in the Shield 155/40b for those with really large suitcases.
For cases with smaller fittings, or if you need to put the padlock shackle through the zip tabs, then have a look at the Abus 145/20 or the Abus 145/30, which come in a variety of colours so you could even match your case should you wish to.
Alternatively, the Abus Jet Set 155/20 comes in a silver and black finish should you wish to have a more discreet look to your security.
